Admin Guide - Configuring the Inspire Planner Resource Filter

Last Modified On: July 8, 2026

The Inspire Planner Resource Filter allows administrators to limit resource searches to Contacts that are marked as available Inspire Planner resources. This improves the user experience and performance for organizations with large numbers of Contacts by reducing the number of records displayed when assigning resources and viewing utilization.

This help article walks you through the necessary configurations to enable the Inspire Planner Resource Filter, allowing you to control which Contacts are available for resource selection and improve resource search performance.

    Please note:

    • You must be a Salesforce System Administrator to complete the steps outlined in this article as it requires access to Salesforce Setup.
    • This feature will be available with the Inspire Planner JUL 2026 Major Release available in Production environments on August 11, 2026.

    Grant Access to New Fields

If you are using custom permission sets, you will need to update field-level security settings to grant users access to the new Inspire Planner Resource Filter fields.

The following Inspire Planner Standard Permission Set already includes access:

    • Inspire Planner Standard User - v1.12 Permission Set

    1. Click on the Gear icon in the top right corner and go to Setup.

    2. Enter "Permission Sets" in the Quick Find box and click on Permission Sets.

    3. Locate your custom permission set and click on it. The image below is just an example.

    4. Go to Object Settings.

    5. Click on the Contacts object.

    6. Click Edit.

    7. Enable Read Access and Edit Access for "Inspire Planner Resource" and Read Access for "sysInspirePlanner Resource". Click Save to save your changes.

    8. Repeat the steps above for all custom permission sets assigned to Inspire Planner users.

Add Fields to Contact Page Layout

Add the Inspire Planner Resource field to the Contact page layout to allow users to identify which Contacts should be available as Inspire Planner resources.

    1. In Setup, navigate to Object Manager.

    2. Go to the Contact object.

    3. Navigate to Page Layouts and click on the page layout you use for contacts. The image below is just an example.

    4. From the list of available fields, drag Inspire Planner Resource to your desired position on the page and click Save.

    5. Repeat these steps for each Contact page layout used by your organization to ensure the Inspire Planner Resource field is available wherever needed.

Add Fields to Contact Lightning Record page

If you are using Dynamic Forms on your Contact Lightning Record Page, add the Inspire Planner Resource field to the page, so users can view and update resource eligibility. If you are not using Dynamic Forms, you can skip this step.

    1. While still in the Contact object settings, select Lightning Record Pages, then click the Lightning Record Page you want to update. The image below is just an example.

    2. Click Edit.

    3. Click on the Details tab.

    4. Navigate to the Fields tab in the left panel. Locate the Inspire Planner Resource field and drag it to the desired location on the page. Then, click Save to save your changes.

    Enable Resource Filtering

Enable the Resource Filtering setting to allow Inspire Planner components to only display Contacts marked as Inspire Planner Resource when searching and assigning resources. This helps improve performance and provides a more streamlined user experience for organizations with large numbers of Contacts.

    1. In Setup, enter "Custom Settings" in the Quick Find box and click Custom Settings.

    2. Locate Inspire Planner Config and click Manage next to it.

    3. Click Edit.

    4. Locate Enable Resource Filter and select the checkbox to set it to TRUE. Click Save to save your changes.

When Enable Resource Filter is set to TRUE, Inspire Planner uses the Inspire Planner Resource checkbox on Contact records to determine which Contacts are available as resources. Only Contacts marked as Inspire Planner Resources will appear in resource selection and assignment areas, including Resource Utilization, Resource Attributes, Project Team Assignment, and Add Collaborator.
