Admin Guide - Resource LWC - BETA - Resource Forecasting

Last Modified On: October 9, 2025

The new Resource Forecasting feature helps Resource and Project Managers plan ahead with greater accuracy. You can now capture future resource demand directly from Opportunities and compare it against role-based capacity defined in Resource Profiles — enabling smarter staffing decisions before projects are even created.

This feature gives managers a proactive view of workload and staffing needs — helping teams balance resources, prevent bottlenecks, and make confident resourcing decisions early in the sales-to-delivery process.

This help article provides step-by-step instructions on enabling the Resource Forecasting feature in Inspire Planner.

    Please note:

You must be a Salesforce System Administrator to complete the steps in this guide, since it requires access to Salesforce setup.

    Enable the Integrated Resource Profile

The Resource Forecasting feature references fields in Resource Profiles. You must first enable the Integrated Resource Profile in Inspire Planner. For instructions, please see Admin Guide - Resource LWC - BETA - Enable Integrated Resource Profile.

Assign the Resource Manager Permission Set

Assign the Inspire Planner - Resource Manager Permission Set to users who will be using this feature.

This permission set grants full access to Resource Profiles, Resource Demands, Rate Cards, Resource Attributes, Timesheets, and Time Entries.

    1. In Setup, enter "Permission Sets" in the Quick Find box and click on Permission Sets.

    2. Click on Inspire Planner - Resource Manager.

    3. Click on Manage Assignments.

    4. Next, click on Add Assignment.

    5. Select users to assign the permission set and click on Next.

    6. Select No Expiration Date and click on Assign.

    Add Resource Demands to Opportunities

The Resource Forecasting feature uses Resource Demands created from opportunities. You will need to add the Resource Demands related list to opportunities to allow users to create records.

    1. In Setup, go to Object Manager.

    2. Go to Opportunity.

    3. Go to Page Layouts and click on the page layout you are using.

    4. Click on Related Lists and drag Resource Demands to your desired area on the page.

      Click on Save when finished.

Add Fields to Resource Profile Page Layout & Field Set

The Resource Forecasting feature uses the following fields in the Resource Profile object:

    • Role
    • Number of Resources

You need to add these fields to the Resource Profile page layout and field set.

    1. In Object Manager, enter "Resource" in the Quick Find box and click on Resource Profile.

    2. Go to Page Layouts and click on the page layout you are using.

    3. From the list of available fields on top, drag the following fields to your desired area on the page.

      Role
      Number of Resources

      Click on Save when finished.

    4. Next, go to Field Sets and click on Resource Management Fields.

    5. From the list of available fields on top, drag the following fields into the box labeled In the Field Set. Then, save your changes.

      Role
      Number of Resources
