This guide provides step-by-step instructions for updating the Task Lightning Record Page in Salesforce to support Inspire Planner functionality.

By updating the Lightning Record Page, you can add key Inspire Planner components, improve task visibility, and ensure users have access to the tools they need directly within the Task interface. This configuration enhances the overall user experience and enables seamless interaction between Salesforce Tasks and Inspire Planner Project Tasks.

Follow the steps in this guide to customize your Task Lightning Record Page and optimize it for use with Inspire Planner.

    Before You Begin

In order to use Lightning Components, your org must have My Domain enabled.  If you have not done so, you can review this article for more information: Salesforce Help - My Domain

Update Your Task Lightning Record Page

An Inspire Planner Task Layout Lightning Record Page is included with Inspire Planner and already contains the required Inspire Planner Lightning components. You can choose to activate this page, create a new one, or modify an existing Lightning Record Page.

Please note that the included Inspire Planner Lightning Record Page is part of a managed package and cannot be edited directly. To make changes, you must first clone the page and then edit the cloned version.

If you already have a Lightning Record Page configured for Salesforce Tasks, or prefer to create your own, you can add the necessary Inspire Planner components by following the steps below.

    1. In Salesforce Setup, go to Object Manager.

    2. Enter "Task" in the search box and click on Task.

    3. Click Lightning Record Pages, then select the Task Lightning Record Page you want to edit. For example, if you have an existing page such as “Custom Inspire Planner Task Layout,” click it to open and modify it.

Note: The Inspire Planner Task Layout Lightning Record Page included with Inspire Planner is part of a managed package and cannot be edited directly. To make changes, you must first clone the page and then edit the cloned version.

    4. Click on Edit

    5. On the left panel, locate the Components section. Scroll down to the “Custom – Managed” section, where you will find all Inspire Planner Lightning components, identified by the “Inspire” prefix.

Drag the following components to your desired area on the page:

      • Inspire - Task Predecessor and Successors
This component displays the task’s Predecessors and Successors. For the best user experience, we recommend placing it in a full-width section of the page to minimize scrolling.

      • Inspire - Project Task Chatter Feed
This component displays the Chatter feed for the related Inspire Planner Project Task, which is also visible in the Project Schedule. Note that this is separate from the standard Salesforce Task Chatter feed.

      • Inspire - Checklist Items

This component displays the checklist items associated with the related Inspire Planner Project Task.

If you plan to track time for your tasks, we recommend adding the following components to your page:

      • Inspire - Time Tracker
Allows users to log time spent working on tasks

      • Inspire - Stopwatch

Provides a stopwatch that users can run while working on their tasks

    6. Click on Save once you are finished making your changes.

    7. Set Component Visibility for Inspire Planner Lightning Components.

Refer to Set Component Visibility for Inspire Planner Lightning Components for detailed instructions.

This is an important step that ensures only Inspire Planner users can see these components, preventing errors for users who do not have access to Inspire Planner.
